Golden Doodles

The family-friendly, hypoallergenic dream dog

About the Golden Doodle

Golden Doodles are one of the most popular designer breeds in America — and for good reason. A cross between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle, they combine the best traits of both: the warm, loving personality of a Golden with the intelligence and low-shedding coat of a Poodle. They're endlessly affectionate, highly trainable, and thrive as family companions, therapy dogs, and emotional support animals.

Golden Doodles were first intentionally bred in the 1990s as a guide dog alternative for people with pet allergies. Today they're one of the most popular family dogs in the US — and it's easy to see why. Their coats range from loose waves to tight curls and come in a dazzling variety of colors: cream, apricot, red, chocolate, and parti-color. Sizes range from Toy (under 20 lbs) to Miniature (20–40 lbs) to Standard (40–90 lbs), making them adaptable to almost any living situation.

Care & Grooming

Golden Doodles need daily exercise and mental stimulation. Their curly or wavy coats require regular brushing (3–4x per week) and grooming every 6–8 weeks. They do not do well when left alone for long periods — they crave human connection.

Health Notes

Generally healthy hybrid. Common concerns include hip dysplasia and ear infections. Regular vet checkups recommended.
